Hang in there a little
longer! It seems that construction at Main Street and IH
35 has been going on forever. Not really, but things are
nearing completion. I spoke with the City of Buda
Engineering Department today and they believe work should be
wrapped up within a month or so. Once completed, traffic in
this area should flow much more smoothly and the entrance
into the HEB shopping center will be much safer. Thanks
for your patience.
You’ve probably noticed that
Tractor Supply Company is “going vertical” on the east side
on IH 35 in the “Shops at Sunfield” development. I’m
pleased to let you know that “Microtel” has submitted plans
to the City of Buda and will be moving forward with the
construction of their facility behind Cabela’s at the corner
of Cabela’s Drive and Old San Antonio Road. This will be
Buda’s fifth hotel property.
The Buda Area Chamber of
Commerce will be hosting their annual awards banquet at
Texas Disposal Company’s Ranch Facility on Saturday,
February 18th. Call the Chamber at 512-295-9999
for more information and to purchase your tickets. This
year’s banquet will be bitter-sweet as the Chamber
recognizes all the award winners but also says goodbye to
Chamber President Dick Schneider. Dick has announced his
retirement following this year’s event. Mr. Terry Capps, a
former Citizen of the Year award winner, has been selected
by the Buda Chamber Board to fill the big shoes left by
Dick’s departure. Here’s wishing them both well as they
move in new directions.
The Greater San Marcos
Economic Development Partnership has completed its first
full year of operation. Wow, time does fly. This group
was born out of a need to better represent the economic
needs in San Marcos. It then grew to include others in Hays
and Caldwell Counties. Buda EDC is honored to be a
financial supporter of the Partnership and to have a seat on
the Board of Directors. As part of our work with the
Partnership, we will join forces with Kyle and Dripping
Springs for a property tour later this year. This joint
effort will allow invited guests to take a bus tour of all
three communities to see firsthand the sites and buildings
that are available for development. Stay tuned for more
information.
As a follow up from our last
update, “Xceligent” is up and running. This is the new Buda
EDC system for our “Available Properties” tab on the web
site. This system is much more comprehensive than before.
If you are looking for available acreage, a building for
lease or sale, check it out.
Remember, Buda EDC is your
partner in economic development. Call, email or visit us in
person in downtown Buda. While you’re here, have lunch and
stay a while. |
